Voice of Salvation and Healing (VOSH) Church International Arch Bishop Dr. Winnie Owiti has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to move with speed and call for dialogue with NASA leader Raila Odinga to avert possible chaos in the country on 12th December.
Bishop Owiti who addressed the media at the National Youth Convention held at Nyamira Girls High School in Bondo said it is only through dialogue between the two leaders that the planned swearing in of Odinga can be stopped.
She said the two leaders need to talk so as to unite the country which is currently divided along tribal lines and avoid bloodshed.
“We are gathering here when we know that the country is divided along tribal lines. We want the president to address the issues that have caused these rifts. We cannot bury our heads in the sand at this time,” Owiti said.
The Arch Bishop said that President Kenyatta promised to unite Kenyans in his swearing-in speech on the 28th November, but has been dragging his feet in calling the NASA leader for dialogue.
She observed that the planned swearing in of Raila Odinga on the 12th December could plunge the country into chaos and the president can prevent it from happening if he calls out the NASA leader for dialogue.
Bishop Owiti who is also the chairperson of clergies in Kisumu region, maintained that it is only through dialogue that issues that have divided the country along tribal lines can be addressed so that amicable and long-lasting solution can be found.
The Arch Bishop who was flanked by Bishops Apollo Anyango (Siaya) and James Odero (Mombasa) on the other hand appealed to NASA leaders Raila Odinga to act within the constitution as he fights for what he believes to be a just cause for the country.
She urged the former prime minister not to relent in his fight for justice in Kenya and taking Kenyan to the Promised Land as he has always stated.
“The National Convention which will end on Saturday has brought together over one thousand from all over the country where they are taught how to handle emerging trend like social media under the theme “How to Overcome the Word”.
