Religious leaders have added their voice to calls for the embattled IEBC not to conduct elections in Luo Nyanza, a development that adds another twist to a fast-moving political drama.
One of those religious leaders is Bishop David Kodia, a bishop in the Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Bondo who read a statement warning the IEBC against pressing on with the rerun in several counties where the polls failed to happen.
The IEBC postponed the rerun of the presidential election in several counties over what it called ''security challenges.''
''Let the will of the people of this region be respected. Our appeal is that, let every presidential candidate be contented with whatever little votes they are bound to get.'' A stern-faced Reverend David Hellington Kodia said flanked by Kisumu governor, Peter Anyang' Nyong'o.
Presiding officers failed to show up in their stations fearing for their security.
Roads were barricaded by protesters keen on preventing the rerun from taking place in their areas.
Political leaders have criticised the IEBC for postponing the election in the counties where the rerun failed to take place, calling it an unacceptable case of ethnic profiling.
