The forum will be tasked with discussing the  political stalemates that may occur in the country.

Led by chairman Rev Philip Anyolo, the bishops say they have resolved to organise the convention after analysing the situation that has unfolded in the country since the beginning of the year.

“We are convinced that this forum is necessary irrespective of the outcome of the Supreme Court decision of the petitions on the October 26 repeat presidential election and any involvement of the political situation,” he said. The cleric say the forum will focus on the reforming the electoral process, national healing, reconciliation, conflict resolution and injustices as well as interrogate contentious areas of the Constitution.

“There are pressing political, social and economic issues that must be addressed. We must examine the simmering discontentment that bubbles during every General Election,” he said.

The Church has always been a powerful arbiter in conflict as well as providing checks and balances to the political class.
