National Vision Party (NVP) leader Nicholus Biwott has said that his party will remain a Jubilee affiliate party but will not join the newly formed Jubilee party.
Speaking in Uasin-Gishu county during a fundraiser, Biwott called upon the president not to coax parties to dissolve and join the new party but instead respect the autonomy of the initial Jubilee affiliate parties.
“We will not dissolve to join the newly formed Jubilee party but rather we will remain as an affiliate. We will however support the president in the 2017 general elections,” he said.
He added that NVP will produce its own Senator, Governor, Women Representative, MP and MCA seats during the next general polls.
He spoke this in response to the call by President Uhuru Kenyatta who earlier on called upon Jubilee affiliate parties to form a merger to push for similar manifestos and avoid tribal parties.
The move by Biwott is presumed to protect the interests of its members who will be contesting on the party's name.
