National Vision Party (NVP) leader Nicholas Biwott has called on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure that it holds free, fair and transparent elections come next year.
His remarks come even as the government and opposition work on a plan to reconstitute the body.
Speaking in Msambweni Kwale County during a fundraiser for women groups, Biwott said that the country cannot afford to have a disputed election.
He maintained that that their party (NVP) will not dissolve to join Jubilee coalition though they are working together.
He said they will support Jubilee's candidate in the 2017 Presidential election.
Biwott noted that democracy calls for multiparty system.
The former cabinet minister also urged residents to vote in women, saying it is not right to discriminate them.
He was accompanied by the party’s secretary general, Marere Mwachai who said that coast region is not a CORD zone and every party has equal share of right to sell its policies in the region.
She echoed Biwott’s sentiments that they support the ruling coalition.
Marere, who is the a former Msambweni MP and the first Muslim woman to be elected an MP, will be seeking to vie for the same position in the forthcoming general election.
