Nyamira county deputy governor Amos Nyaribo has asked the communications department to leave office over laxity and incompetence.
Addressing the press in his office today, Nyaribo claimed that the staff have failed in delivering to their mandate and that they should vacate the offices.
He said that the department has failed to provide the county with the positive publicity that it needed.
Nyaribo said that they have been relaxing in their duties accusing them of sidelining the press men from covering county development projects.
"How will our people know what we have done if journalists are not informed of the function," said Nyaribo.
"What is their role if they can't counter the negative publicity spread by our political rivals? They should rather pack and leave," he added.
He was referring to Friday's incident when he forced one of the department's officers to call the media to the tree planting launch program held at the county's Uhuru gardens.
However, the director of communications, Born Mania has refuted the claims by the deputy governor and instead said that they were being frustrated by senior officials in the county.
The principal information officer Dan Onyancha has implicated the county secretary Erick Onchana in the lapse accusing him of overstepping their mandate and in-house wrangles.
"The county secretary has almost taken the role of our office and thinks he can do everything in this county, he has really frustrated our efforts of acquiring equipment for our department and as of now," said Onyancha.
"We have never had even a simple voice recorder regardless of our numerous requisition made to the procurement department," said Onyancha.
"There's gross interference from senior government officials and that's why we are not moving," he added.
