Heavy rains experienced at the moments in Kisii region has led to hiking of prices of tomatoes in the region.
Kebirigo market is known for having low prices of tomatoes.
Speaking to Moraa a tomato trader in the market she says that the prices of tomatoes have gone up and it is because of the heavy rains that are being experienced in Kisii region.
Samuel Nyakabaria, a tomato farmer from Nyankongo village, Bonyamatuta ward also explained how his premature tomatoes have rotten in the shamba.
"I prefer dry season to the rainy season because we tomato farmers who do not have green houses cannot get anything from the shamba," he adds.
Speaking today at a funeral on the same issue, Nyantaro Sub-County Agricultural officer, Mr. Robert Omae, advised tomato farmers to use green houses for their farming to avoid the losses brought about by Weather changes.
