The Right Back (RB) picked up an injury in a Kenya Premier League Match (KPL) against Bandari FC on Saturday. Gor Mahia won the tie 2-0.

The 2017 KPL Champions now lead the league standings with 13 points after five matches this season. Gor Mahia has won four matches and drawn one.

“Our RB, Wellington Ochieng, picked a bad injury in a match against Bandari. He twisted and injured his ankle and will be out of action as he recovers from the same. We wish him a speedy recovery,” read a statement by Gor Mahia Club.

Wellington Ochieng's absence adds to Gor Mahia's injury woes, with another right back, Karim Nizigiyimana also out with a long-term injury he suffered last year.

Gor Mahia will face Esperance on Wednesday, after coming out of the CAF Champions League Preliminary round via a 3-1 aggregate win over Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarions.

The second leg will be played after 10 days in Tunisia. The aggregate winner qualifies for this year’s Africa Champions League stage.
