Kenya Premier League newcomers Vihiga United have suffered a massive blow after their head coach Edward Manoah resigned Friday over contract-related issues.Speaking to local sports website Futaa.com on Friday, the veteran tactician accused the club's sponsors Vihiga County Government of refusing to renew his contract that is set to run out in April."I have resigned from my position as head coach because the County Government doesn't seem committed to renewing my contract, and from a professional point of view I cannot plan for 2018 season when my own future in the team is in doubt," he said."I had given the management a clear plan of how things should be done concerning the transition from the National Super League (NSL) and I hope whoever comes on board will implement it to ensure the transition is smooth," he added.
The former Kakamega Homeboyz tactician was instrumental in guiding Vihiga to the top tier league in the just concluded 2017 season after several failed attempts.
He, however, maintained that he has no grudge against the club and wished them well in their future engagements.
"I am not in any way bitter.I played my part in bringing this team to KPL and that's something I am proud of.I want to see this team become even more successful and I wish all my players and whoever will succeed me the very best," he said.
Vihiga topped the NSL charts to earn direct promotion to the Kenyan elite league.
