Opposition leader Raila Odinga has suffered major blow in his intended swearing-in.
The former Prime Minister on Sunday declared he will soon take the oath of office to be 'people’s president' if President Uhuru Kenyatta does not engage him in dialogue to end what he described as political uncertainty in the country.
"Nobody will stop me from lifting the Bible," Raila said, while addressing delegates during the Coast People's Assembly convention in Kilifi County.
But it now seems the pronouncement was an ODM affair because NASA affiliate parties; Wiper, Amani National Congress (ANC) and Ford-Kenya have remained silent over the matter.
NASA co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula missed the event in Kilifi where Raila made the declaration to swear himself in.
When contacted by Daily Nation on whether Wiper has endorsed the move, Party Vice Chairman Mutula Kilonzo Junior said: "I am not privy to any discussions among the principals before Raila made the declaration," said the Makueni Senator.
A top ranking leader in Mudavadi's ANC party asked NASA's leadership should shelve the controversial idea as it serves no purpose.
"Swearing-in Raila is a waste of time," said Lugari MP Ayub Savula.
"What will happen after that? He does not have the National Intelligence Service, the police or the Treasury. How will he, then, operate?" the legislator posed speaking at Parliament Buildings on Monday.
