Ulinzi Stars defended Omar Mbongi in a past action.(Photo/goal.com)Ulinzi Stars defender Omar Mbongi is the latest player to be dropped from the Harambee Stars for the Cecafa senior challenge squad after being taken ill.Mbongi joins the growing injury list that also saw the Gor Mahia duo of Haroun Shakava and Kenneth Muguna sidelined ahead of the regional tourney to kickoff on December 3 in the country. The speedy Ulinzi man was taken ill shortly on Wednesday afternoon after a light workout at the Camp Toyoyo where the squad is training ahead of their opening match against Rwanda.Mbongi has however been replaced by Sofapaka defender Wesley Onguso for the impending assignment.Stars will be hoping to put aside their previous back to back defeats in friendlies against Iraq and minnows Thailand to bag the regional bonanza which they last lifted in 2015 when the tourney was held in the country. However they'll have to dispatch very strong teams that will headline the two-week extravaganza including defending champions Uganda Cranes,Libya,Rwanda and Zimbabwe before they can lift the trophy.Stars is pooled alongside Rwanda,Libya,Tanzania and Zanzibar in Group A.
