Uncertainty hit Dala Sevens after several participants who include

Menengai Oilers, Quins, Nakuru RFC, Nondies and Mwamba pulled out citing security concerns.

Kisumu County governor, Anyang Nyongo had assured the teams and other stakeholders of security in the two-day tournament.

The county has experienced demonstrations over the disputed presidential elections for several weeks.

Musa Ndale, Director of League and Fixtures, in a statement, regretted the decision by clubs to boycott the tournament and were trying to see the turnout to establish whether their management would do re-pooling with the available teams.

Edwin Waita, Mwamba team manager, weighed in on the issue stating that with the prevailing security situation in the country, they would not participate in the final circuit.

Mike Lucas, Quins chairman confirmed their withdrawal from the two-day tournament.

Quins who were drawn in Pool ‘B’ were scheduled to face Mwamba, Strathmore Leos who also pulled out and Makueni RFC.

He further said that they would have loved to support host Kisumu RFC.

The decision was reached after a club meeting with everyone involved including players and decided not to go.
