Deputy President William Ruto has affirmed that the yet to be launched Jubilee Party will not endorse candidates to vie for specific seats in the forthcoming general election.
According Ruto, all aspiring candidates must be prepared to battle for tickets during nominations as the move will ensure there is transparency within the party and no candidate is considered a favourite.
“I want to say this clearly that as Jubilee Party we will not endorse candidates to vie for specific seats in the coming general elections. This will enable unity and transparency in the nomination process,” said Ruto.
He further stated that JP's course was to promote democracy where the majority will carry the day.
"Those interested in any seat must present themselves to the people and seek votes. That is the nature of democracy," said Ruto.
Ruto who was speaking at Kongasis Primary School in Gilgil during a fundraiser for women groups, reiterated that JP's aim was to unite all Kenyans in addition to fulfilling promises made to the electorate in 2013.
Nominated Senator Martha Wangari, MPs David Gikaria (Nakuru Town East) and Kimani Ngunjiri (Bahati) also graced the function where they urged Kenyans to join JP for the purposes of fostering national unity.
