Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has suffered a major blow after MPs allied to the Jubilee Party passed the contested amendment on election laws.
The Cord MPs had earlier walked out of parliament to boycott the session. However, Jubilee MPs used their tyranny of numbers and passed he amendment that will give way for the use of manual transmission of elections in case the electronic system fails.
The opposition MPs decided to take the matter to Milimani court to oppose the special sitting on the matter, however presiding judge Justice George Odunga declined to stop the special sitting saying that he has no jurisdiction to interfere with a legislative process but can only deal with the outcome.
