Kisauni parliamentary aspirant Ali Mbogo has announced his defection from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to Wiper Party.
Mbogo cited lack of democracy in the ODM camp as the main reason for ditching the Raila Odinga led-party.
He claimed that the party is keen on denying him the ticket to contest for the seat in the upcoming general election.
“We tried consulting here and there, but it became impossible. So there was no use wasting time there,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
The aspirant blamed ODM Mombasa chairman Mohammed Hatimy for his political woes.
Hatimy, however, dismissed the claims, saying Mbogo has no intention of going for the seat on an ODM ticket as he has been alleging, adding that he was in the party just for show.
“We know he was in Wiper all along. He was only in ODM as a show. I do respect his democratic choice, though,” said Hatimy.
This comes days after ODM deputy party leader Governor Hassan Joho’s deputy Hazel Katana ditched ODM for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee side.
