Youth from the Ukambani region have also voiced their over the move by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to skip Tuesday’s swearing in of Raila Odinga at the Uhuru Park grounds.
The youth, who spoke on Wednesday, said they were shocked by the move by Musyoka, and accused him of being undecided on his political decisions.
They have further threatened to now shift their support to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, whom they said is courageous enough with his decision.
Mutua has shown interest in vying for the country’s top job in 2022, and the group’s decision will be a big plus for the second term governor.
“Are we cowards? We have served Kenya diligently in different high positions and we are ready to continue leading the Ukambani Nation in the same capacities,” said one of the members.
He added: “What Kalonzo does not seem to understand is that we have other leaders as well,”
“We want to say that we regret what happened on Tuesday, but we also want to say that what happened was a typical Kalonzo act, he showed his own characters, and should not be taken to represent the Kamba community,” added another member.
Musyoka and his other co-principals Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula skipped the event, where Odinga took the oath as the people’s president.
