Kenya Sevens coach Innocent Simiyu has been forced to make three changes to his squad following injuries to star players Collins Injera and Dennis Ombachi.
The three players; Oscar Ouma, Samuel Muregi and Evans Ombasa have been called to link up with the Kenya Sevens team ahead of the second leg of the season set for this weekend in Cape Town.
Ombachi suffered an ankle injury while Injera pulled up a hamstring on the first day of the opening leg of this season’s series in Dubai on Friday and have been ruled out of action this weekend.
In Dubai, Kenya finished second in group ‘A’ behind eventual winners South Africa and qualified to the quarterfinals but narrowly failed to secure the main cup semifinal slot after losing to New Zealand by 14 to 12, leaving them in 7th position with ten points.
Shujaa have once again been pooled with series champions South Africa, France, and Russia in Cape Town and begin their campaign against France this Saturday.
After South Africa, the national team returns home next week to prepare for the 3rd and 4th legs of the series to be held in Sydney, Australia and Hamilton, Canada in late January and early February next year.
