President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee campaigns in Gusii have been dealt with a blow after Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi hinted rejoining his old party-ODM.
Recently, Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto prevailed upon Maangi to drop his bid in favour of Senator Chris Obure.
And in yet another twist of events, Maangi who has decamped from ODM twice accused Obure of intimidation and even hinted supporting Governor James Ongwae’s reelection.
“Obure has never accepted that I dropped my governorship bid. He keeps on fighting me in every function despite me not being his competitor,” Maangi told reporters on Thursday.
On his allegedly expulsion from ODM he said: “I went to court and blocked my expulsion from ODM. I am still a member of the party.”
Although it is not clear what position Maangi could be eyeing, he may support Ongwae’s bid and lobby for an appointment as running mate.
Until his latest political move, Maangi, a close ally of Ruto has been coordinating Jubilee activities even though he has since been overshadowed by Mr Obure.
