After a short break in his campaigns for Kilifi governor, Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro has returned with a bang in his push for the county top seat.
The Jubilee candidate on Thursday received a major endorsement in his constituency from various women groups at Tezo Ward. The women accused the incumbent, Governor Amason Kingi, of ignoring their plight in the county, adding that they are looking for a leader who will address their challenges with Mung'aro being their best bet.In return, the lawmaker promised to empower the women economically and socially if elected the next county Chief.Mung'aro said his government will increase women participation in politics and at the same time create a power base designed to achieve equality for all women. With over 70,000 votes up for grabs, Kilifi North is expected to be one of the most hotly-contested constituencies in the race for the governor seat.Despite being widely regarded as Mung'aro's backyard, the impact of ODM's Kilifi Women Rep candidate Gertrude Mbeyu in the constituency should not be ignored.
