Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi's bid to defend his seat has been dealt a blow after influential Women Representative Aisha Jumwa vowed to campaign for his (Kingi's) bitter rival Kilifi North MP Gideon Mung'aro. The firebrand politician who trounced Malindi MP Willy Mtengo to bag the ODM ticket to vie for the seat in the August polls, claims the Governor interfered with the party's nomination exercise in the county by allegedly supporting Mtengo.Jumwa said despite being a loyal member of ODM, she will throw her weight behind Mung'aro who is seeking to unseat Kingi on a Jubilee Party ticket."Governor Kingi openly favored Mtengo in the Malindi constituency ODM primaries and other areas which was wrong. Although I am an ODM party candidate, I have now decided to do everything possible to support Mung'aro for the Governor seat. Enough is enough. We want to see him out,” said Mung'aro, as quoted by People Daily.Jumwa's decision brings to end many weeks of muscle flexing with Kingi who she accuses of undermining democracy in the county. Should she make good her threats, then Kingi will be forced to go back to the drawing board in the wake of a looming political showdown.
