Garissa governor Ali Korane has suffered a blow after University of Nairobi disowned his masters degree he claims he obtained from the institution in 2011.

According to the university's academic registrar, governor Korane is not a graduate from the institution.

"Korane Ali Bunow is not a graduate of Master's of Business Administration of this university on December 2, 2011. The copy of this certificate is not genuine and was not issued by this university," said the university's academic registrar in a letter.

Korane has now joined a list of 106 politicians who have fake academic papers according to EACC.

This comes after last year December, the institution also denied Meru senator Mithika Linturi an opportunity to graduate on grounds that he used fake papers to enroll for a law degree.
