The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Elections Board has declared Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho’s cousin Said Abdalla, alias Saido, as the party nominee for the Nyali parliamentary seat ahead of the forthcoming general election.Earlier on, Former KTN journalist Mohammed Ali, popularly known as Moha Jicho Pevu had objected the results alleging that the nominations were characterized by massive elective malpractices. The legislator also claimed that Joho had hatched a plot to ensure he (Moha) does not contest for the seat in August.ODM Director of elections Junet Mohamed, however, said Joho’s cousin will be given the ticket to contest for the seat during the upcoming polls.Junet said Saido floored the journalist turned politician after garnering 3,671 votes against Moha’s 2,987, adding that the board has rejected the complainants appeal. “The party national elections board has rejected Jicho Pevu’s appeal against his political rival,” Junet said.Moha is expected to vie for the seat as an independent candidate after he took to social media and told Joho he will meet Saido on the ballot.
