The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has released new pump prices, dealing a blow to motorists, after the price of Petrol was increased.
Motorists will pay more for the product after it was increased by Sh1.81 to Sh96.01, effective from January 15, 2017.
However the energy regulator lowered prices of Diesel and Kerosene.
''The prices of super petrol, diesel and kerosene in Kenya have changed by a small margin in the latest price review by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC),'' noted the Commission, Saturday.
It added: ''On average, the price of Super Petrol increases by Kshs 1.81 per litre. The price of Diesel drops by Kshs 2.99 while Kerosene decreases by Kshs 0.12.''
During the price announcement, ERC urged oil marketing companies to compete below the maximum calculated prices.
The prices vary across major towns and will be in force until the next price review on February 14.
