Machakos gubernatorial hopeful Wavinya Ndeti has been cleared to vie.The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) dispute resolution tribunal had barred her from vying on grounds that the former Kathiani MP who was the leader of Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU), before decamping to Wiper Democratic Movement - Kenya, was a member of two parties during nomination."As at the time of the nomination of Ndeti, she was both a member of CCU and Wiper party which is against the law," said the panel. However, High Court Judge George Odunga ruled that she was an eligible Wiper party candidate. In his ruling, Wednesday morning, Odunga noted the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal decided she was a bonafide member of of the party which is led by Nasa presidential deputy candidate Kalonzo Musyoka, and that the IEBC tribunal had no power to nullify the decision.Wavinya who will now face off with Dr Alfred Mutua (Maendeleo Chap Chap Party leader), had earlier assured her supporters that she would be on the ballot. She was in Court, alongside her running mate, during the ruling, where she expressed joy, saying her political enemies had already failed.
