This comes at a time when NASA officials are set to hold a rally in Bomet which will be attended by governor Ruto.

“The claims that I will join Nasa are incorrect. People are just speculating. I have not made such a statement,” Mr Ruto is quoted by Nation.

According to the former Jubilee member, he has formed his own political party Chama Cha Mashinani that will be used to seek re-election in the August polls.

Ruto has said that he will only be hosting the coalition top leadership.

NASA has already formulated a team of lawmakers who have been tasked with finding the preferred presidential candidate.

Senators James Orengo (Siaya) and Johnson Muthama (Machakos) and MPs John Bunyasi (Nambale) and Eseli Simiyu (Tongaren) have been appointed the conveners of the coordinating committee.

The team held its first meeting with the principals on Tuesday to lay out strategies on how to move their agenda forward.
