The National Super Alliance has received a major setback after the Nairobi County Assembly rejected the People's Assembly motion.
The Assembly declined to allocate time to debate the motion with the House Business Committee (HBC) saying it was against the law.
Nairobi HBC is chaired by County Speaker Beatrice Elachi with Abdi Guyo serving as the vice chair.
Guyo, who is also the majority leader, said there was already a court order place barring the debate of the said motion.
“The County Assembly is an institution mandated to uphold the integrity of the constitution and we will not entertain any such motion on the grounds that it is illegal,” he stated.
“We will make sure that the motion is not tabled by all means. In fact any County Assembly in the Country that has passed the motion should be surcharged because they are using tax payers’ money to engage in an illegal activity,” added Guyo.
