Opposition coalition NASA and ruling party Jubilee have been dealt a blow ahead of the August polls after teachers' unio KUPPET declined to support the two outfits.
Speaking last weekend in Bomet, KUPPET Secretary General Akelo Misori noted that the union will work with whomever Kenyans will elect during the forthcoming general elections.
He, however, noted that union members were at liberty to support any political party and candidates of their choice without coercion.
“We fit across the political divide and showing our allegiance to a particular side may cause a lot of confusion in the country,” he said.
They further welcomed plans by both NASA and Jubilee to make secondary school education free, urging both factions to consult further on the matter.“We would have expected the two political wings to give it thorough thought,” Misori said.
