Opposition NASA has yet again suffered a major setback following defection of former West Mugirango MP James Gesami, who joined Uhuru Kenyatta’s camp on Sunday.
Gesami, a two term MP, lost in Nyamira Gubernatorial seat as an independent candidate after losing in ODM primaries to Governor John Nyagarama.
Prior to his resignation from the party as part of requirement to contest as an independent, Gesimi served as ODM chairman, Nyamira branch for five years.
Even as an independent, he remained vocal on matters ODM and campaigned for opposition leader Raila Odinga across Gusii region.
With Jubilee targeting Nyamira County ahead of October polls, his latest entry will help President Uhuru Kenyatta further tilt the county in his favour.
During the August 8 elections, Uhuru pulled a surprise by beating Odinga in the region which has otherwise voted for opposition for a decade.
His close relationship with Odinga, earned him an assistant ministerial slot in health ministry during the grand coalition government
