Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement has been hit yet with another blow as the season of defections intensifies ahead of August elections.
Both ODM and the ruling Jubilee Party have had an equal share of defections as aspirants positions themselves to the ‘right’ party before polls.
And on Sunday, vocal Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka will finally shift camp to Ford Kenya, a party associated with NASA co-principal and Odinga’s ally Moses Wetangula.
“I am now working with Ford Kenya because that is where I feel welcome,” said Onyonka on a text message ahead of his inauguration as Second Deputy Party Leader.
He added: “We can’t allow people to run parties like their personal properties. That is my stand but I will still work with Odinga.”
Prior to his defection on Sunday [today], Onyonka had earlier rescinded his decision of joining Jubilee Party following hostility from a section of electorates.
And the second time MP was due to face stiff competition in ODM primaries from interim ODM Kisii County chair Sam Omwando and business mogul Antony Kibagendi.
