Opposition leader Raila Odinga has suffered a major blow following the endorsement of President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory by The Archbishop of Centerbury, Justin Welby.
Early in October, Odinga paid a courtesy call to the Anglican Bishop in London for special prayers amid political crisis over presidential repeat poll.
"I value greatly the wise counsel given by Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Centerbury imparted to me when I paid him a courtesy call," he wrote in his Facebook.
But on Saturday, Welby, who is in the country, paid a courtesy call to President Uhuru Kenyatta in State House and reportedly endorsed his victory.
Apparently, Odinga ,72, has disowned the outcome of October polls which he boycotted and called for a revolution that will be spearheaded under National Resistance Movement.
"While at State House, Archbishop Justin Welby hailed Kenyans for conducting free and fair elections," reported Citizen TV.
The new development may challenge Odinga's quest for democracy given that the Church is instrumental in fighting for democratisation of institutions.
