Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong [PHOTO/ The Star]Busia governor Sospeter Ojaamong has received a major setback in his campaign after three county executive officers in his government quit to join rival Paul Otuoma's camp.
Deputy Governor Kizito Wangalwa, Hillary Makhulu of the Education and Beneditte Muyomi of Lands have shifted camp to Otuoma.
According to the Standard, it is still not clear if Mr Makhulu officially resigned before joining Otuoma but Mr Wangalwa and Ms Muyomi tendered in their resignation letters.
According to Wangalwa, the decision not to support Ojaamong ca,me after the governor failed to consult him when he appointed his running mate.
Muyomi on the other hand cited personal reasons.
But while campaigning in Teso South constituency, the governor lashed out at the trio and said they were detrimental to his government and have been sabotaging him.
He said their resignation will make easier his work of picking new ones should he be re-elected.
