A High Court sitting in Kitui County has ruled against Nasa’s people’s assembly motion.
The court has issued an injunction prohibiting any of the 47 people’s assemblies in any of the 47 counties from sitting or meeting.
National Super Alliance (Nasa) leader Raila Odinga had fashioned the assemblies as the way out of their refusal to accept the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The assemblies, Nasa said, will have a task force that will be charged with coming up with suggestions of how to change the Constitution— including the structure of government and the elections regime.
So far, Busia, Siaya, Kakamega, Vihiga, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kitui and Makueni County Assemblies have adopted Nasa’s people’s assembly motion.
This comes on a day when the Supreme Court upheld the re-election of President Kenyatta in the October 26 repeat presidential poll.
Odinga boycotted the election, terming it a sham and a predetermined process.
