President Uhuru Kenyatta has received a major boost ahead of repeat presidential election slated for October 17.
This is after Rift Valley leaders vowed to rally the Kalenjin community behind the Jubilee candidate's re-election bid.
In what was described as the 'Kapkatet-Kalenjin Declaration' the leaders pledged to carry out intensive campaigns for Uhuru to ensure he wins with a landslide.
The leaders met on Friday at the historic Kapkatet Grounds- a place known for major Kalenjin political declarations.
In the meeting which brought together region's political kingpin Deputy President William Ruto and KANU national chairman Gideon Moi, 'rebels' Isaac Ruto (former Bomet governor) and Johanna Ng'eno (Emurua Dikir MP) announced they have ditched NASA for Jubilee.
"Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) will not be opposing Uhuru's re-election. It has seen the move in the direction of its voter base," declared the former governor.
"KANU is well and today Kalenjin leaders have come here and are standing side by side as a team. As the son of the retired president, I must say this is golden opportunity for all of us to get together as one and pull in one direction," said Moi, as quoted by the Standard.
"We want the whole world to know that Kalenjin community is united and will speak with one voice from now on," the DP remarked.
President Kenyatta will face off NASA's Raila Odinga in a fresh poll next month after his August 8 win was annulled by the Supreme Court which ordered a repeat election within 60 days.
