Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential hopes continues to suffer major blows following the latest declaration by a section of Kalenjin elders.
Slightly over a week ago, Ruto was reportedly barred from visiting retired president Daniel Moi. whose son Gideon is also interested in 2022 polls.
"They embarrassed the DP by claiming that they booked an appointment for him. Those MPs should be charged with trespass," said Tiaty MP William Kamket.
But in Eldoret, a section of elders insisted that the young Moi is fit to run for presidency and warned those who have developed 'phobia' due to his bid.
They also urged the DP to embrace competition adding that politics of intimidation was long gone in Kenya.
"Those who are doubting and thinking otherwise should be aware that we have given Moi our blessings to vie. It is not a preserve for Ruto," said the elders, whose statement was read by Yusuf Keittany.
At a funeral in Baringo over the weekend, Gideon, who serves as area senator, said he was ready for criticism but warned his competitors against soiling his father's name.
