[Photo/goal.com]Kenya Premier League side Tusker FC suffered a major blow after one of their new signings Mathews Odongo picked up an injury in their pre-season friendly match against Nairobi Stima at the Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday.The Ugandan, who was poached from Kariobangi Sharks, was substituted moments after netting a goal for the Brewers who thrashed the Electricians 4-1Tusker assistant head coach Francis Baraza decried the injury blow and blamed Odongo's tackler for being rough on his player."That was the only downside in a match we used to gauge the endurance of our players.It was a bad tackle on Odongo.We shall wait for the doctor's report before telling how long he will be out," Baraza said after the match.Tusker has lined up a number of friendly matches that they hope will help bolster the team ahead of the grueling 2018 season.The team had a disappointing 2017 campaign that saw them relinquish both the league title and the GOtv shield.
The outcome saw the Brewers part ways with a number of their regular players as well as head coach George Nsimbe who has since been replaced by his Ugandan compatriot Sam Timbe.Among the player casualties who were sent packing by the team includes Allan Wanga, Humphrey Mieno, and former captain James Situma.
