A section of Chama Cha Mashinani (CCM) officials have hit out at their party leader Isaac Ruto, after he defected from the National Super Alliance (Nasa) and declared support for Jubilee's President Uhuru Kenyatta ahead of the presidential election. While jumping ship during a Jubilee political rally in Kapkatet grounds in Kericho county on Friday, September 8, Ruto said he had felt lonely in Nasa and therefore decided to go back home.Alvin Koech, who is among the CCM's unsuccessful aspirants during the party's primaries accused the former Bomet governor of having selfish interests.Speaking to journalists in Bomet on Sunday, Koech further noted Ruto did not consult the party members on his decision. "Jubilee Party does not subscribe to NASA cum CCM policies of yearning for 45 percent of funds to the counties and hence it was foolhardy for Ruto to make hasty decision of supporting Jubilee for selfish interests," Koech said as quoted by the Star."Following this, it was foolhardy for Rutto to make a hasty decision of supporting Jubilee. He did so for his selfish interests," he added.Koech said Ruto's move will not in any way stop CCM's supporters in Bomet and across the country from voting for the Nasa flag bearer Raila Odinga."Rutto has become too cheap to a point of being lured with Jubilee Party handouts. He has forgotten his cause of bettering Kenyan's livelihoods. Shame."The Ex-governor was a fierce critic of Jubilee government before the August 8 elections.
