President Uhuru Kenyatta could struggle to score in Gusii region when the country goes to fresh elections following speculations that former Kisii Senator Chris Obure could quit his camp.
Despite the court ruling and assuming elections were free and fair, Uhuru scored fairly well in Gusii region with IEBC figures showing that he beat Raila Odinga in Nyamira County.
But the former ODM chairman is said to be unhappy following the decision by Jubilee party to propose Ken Lusaka as Senate Speaker instead of him as early agreed.
“Yes I can confirm that he is unhappy and he is exploring options. He feels that the community was cheated by Jubilee party,” a friend who spoke in confidence confirms.
The source further says:”He is not specific about his preferred side but there is a likelihood he will work with the option.”
Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi who was fronted for Deputy Majority Leader however says Jubilee team in Gusii remains unmoved.
“Those are innuendos and I urge people to ignore them. We are in a good gear and we shall again deliver in October,” he says.
Whether Obure is quitting Jubilee or not, he may after all quit should he fail to secure a place in government.
