President Uhuru Kenyatta's bid to garner maximum support from Ukambani has suffered a blow.
This is after Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana denied claims that he had vowed to support Uhuru's re-election in 2017.
“My position is that I am firmly in the Muungano party, which I head and which is a Cord affiliate,” Kibwana told the Star.
Apart from Machakos governor Alfred Mutua, the Jubilee party has been working hard to get support of other governors from the region, which overwhelmingly voted for the opposition.
