President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Kisii presidential campaign team suffered a blow on Friday following the sudden death of Kitutu Chache South aspiring MP Leonard Mwamba.

Mwamba was among active members of the campaign team and a day prior to the fateful accident near Nyakoe, he had played host to Deputy President William Ruto.

His Toyota Prado which was reportedly speeding veered off the road and crashed when the driver tried to hitting a school child near a road bump.

According to police commander Hassan Abdi, Mwamba died upon arrival at ChristaMarriane hospital in Kisii with one of the occupants and the school child reportedly dying on the spot.

In a region perceived to be an opposition stronghold, Mwamba has been working closely with JP secretariat to tilt votes in favour of Kenyatta.

At his constituency, he was set to run against incumbent Richard Onyonka of Ford Kenya and Samwel Omwando of Orange Democratic Movement.

Already, JP Youth Coordinator Antony Kibagendi has termed the tragedy as a ‘big’ loss to the Jubilee party in Gusii region.
