President Uhuru Kenyatta’s government has suffered a major setback following the sudden demise of Interior Cabinet Secretary Major Gen (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery.
A statement from Public Service chair Joseph Kinyua indicates that the former Kajiado Central MP died at Karen Hospital on Friday night.
“It is with deep sorrow and shock that we announce the sudden passing on of Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery,” read the state house statement.
“Gen Nkaissery passed on at Karen Hospital in Nairobi a few hours after being admitted for check up,” added the statement.
Until his appointment as CS Nkaissery 67,served as Kajiado Central MP under Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement party.
His recruitment to Uhuru’s government brought stability to the security of the country that had suffered a series of setbacks prior to his 2015 appointment to government.
Slightly a month before Kenya goes to polls, Nkaissery has been putting politicians who incite people on notice and had vowed to crack a whip on them.
His last public appearance was on Friday’s peace prayers at Uhuru Park where he accompanied President Uhuru Kenyatta.
