United Nations Habitat ambassador Sam Ongeri will formally join Orange Democratic Movement after spells with Jubilee coalition, Kitutu Chache North parliamentary aspirant Samuel Nyarangi has revealed.
Ongeri will be received by ODM party leader Raila Odinga on Thursday where he will join several other party members in rallying for voter registration.
Till his defection, the former education minister had expressed his dissatisfaction in the manner in which Jubilee Party was conducting its business.
“On Thursday, the ODM family will welcome the newest member to its camp from Gusii. We believe Prof. Ongeri will help us stamp ODM strength in Gusii region,” said Nyarangi.
He added: “He will be received by our party leader this Thursday in Kisii town and perhaps this is the moment many more leaders are expected to join our winning team.”
Ongeri, who lost in senatorial elections in 2013, is expected to compete against Charles Nyachae after incumbent Chris Obure announced his intentions to go for gubernatorial seat.
