President Uhuru Kenyatta faces reelection nightmares from marginalized communities as a series of defections continues to rock his Jubilee Party.

Just few hours after Isiolo Governor Godana Doyo quit Jubilee for Party of Development Reforms, area senator Mohammed Kuti, who is also set to challenge Doyo, resigned from Jubilee Party.

Recently, Mandera leaders formed Economic Freedom Party in which most leaders have declared interests in and a similar scenario has been witnessed in Rift Valley marginalized counties where Chama Cha Mashinani of Isaac Rutto is gaining momentum.

In a letter dated April 17 2017, Kuti said that he won’t participate in Jubilee Party primaries and demanded that his name be expunged from register.

“I am now tendering my resignation from Jubilee Party with immediate effect and I do not intend to participate in party primaries scheduled April 21,” read a section of the letter.

He further stated: “Kindly delete my name from the party register and from the ballot papers for nomination immediately.”

Significantly, his defection could sabotage Kenyatta’s reelection bid in the vast county given the senator’s eloquence and zeal when defending his people.

However, he did not disclose reasons why he decided to cut links with the party he has served in as many months.
