Kenya Premier League side Ulinzi Stars has been dealt a major blow following the unavailability of four of their first team players for the first leg of the 2018 season.
Lanky defender Godfrey Kokoyo and strikers Mark Bikokwa and Omar Baarafya will be attending mandatory military courses for the better part of the first leg campaign ruling them out for any field duties for the Soldiers.
Veteran defender Mohammed Hassan is also expected not to feature because he is away attending to personal issues and has not been with the team in their pre-season campaigns.
According to head coach Dunstan Nyaudo, the absence of the quartet is a major blow but the team will rely on their other players to get the results.
"Koky, Bikokwa, and Omar will not be part of the team in the first leg as they will be undertaking military courses and we cannot hold onto them because at the end of the day we are soldiers first.Hassan too is away attending to a personal matter and has not been with the team for the preseason.I do not know when he will be back so I cannot plan with a player who isn't with the rest of the team.Their absence is a blow but we have to find a way to do without them," he said.
The Soldiers also lost the services of diminutive striker Stephen Waruru who joined Sofapaka and Sammy Onyango who moved to Gor Mahia.
