Ford Kenya party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula has been dealt a huge blow following the defection of his key allies to Jubilee Party.

President Uhuru Kenyatta received more than 1,000 Ford Kenya defectors on Wednesday, pledging to meet their demands.

Led by Ford Kenya Secretary General Trans-Nzoia county chapter Martin Waliaula, the defectors accused Wetang'ula of 'mistreating' them, vowing to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's reelection bid.

"We were mistreated in the Opposition but Jubilee Party was welcoming," he said.

On his part, President Uhuru Kenyatta welcomed the defectors to Jubilee, noting that the ruling party is accommodative to all.

"We want a party that is devoid of tribalism and one that does not discriminate on grounds of colour or religion," he said.

"Ensure you are fully in government so you are part of its plans," he added, urging them to mobilize more support for the party in the County.
