Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore, who is on a medical leave, has for the first time revealed his condition.

Through a tweet, Collymore confirmed that he was doing well.

He made the revelations while replying to a tweet by @kwanjohi who had enquired about his health status.

“I’m doing very well. Thanks for asking and a Happy Christmas to you and yours,” tweeted Collymore.

According to a statement by Safaricom chairman Nicholas Ng’ang’a, Bob had started medical leave to receive specialized treatment for a number of months.

“On behalf of the board, management and the entire Safaricom community. I wish Bob quick recovery and look forward to him resuming his duties as soon as doctors allow him to do so,” Ng’ang’a said.

Joseph Ogutu, the director of Strategy and Innovation for Safaricom has been responsible for Safaricom’s day-to-day operations until Mr. Collymore’s return from medical leave.
