Former Safaricom Chief Executive Bob Collymore has said he is prepared to return to the helm of the company after a long sick leave in Europe.
In a short video posted on the telecommunications giant's intranet, Collymore said he is responding well to treatment and is optimistic he will make a come back very soon.
"As you can see I have put a little weight on; ten kilograms to be precise. My wife’s cooking is clearly doing fantastic work with that," Collymore who replaced former Safaricom Chief Executive Michael Joseph said as quoted by Business Daily.
He said the medical team that attended to him did a fantastic job adding that he is in good shape. He said he expects to undergo the last medical procedure in a few weeks before he is put under monitoring stage and subsequently discharge.
Collymore left Safaricom in October last year as he took medical leave.
Kenyans, however, read differently into his departure claiming he had been sacked following protests by the opposition that Safaricom had connived with the Jubilee administration to 'cook' presidential election data in favor of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
NASA led by opposition chief Raila Odinga announced a boycott of Safaricom products following the allegations.
Safaricom denied that Collymore had been sacked.
