Kisii County Police Commander Hassan Abdi on Friday speaking to the press after he met Kisii County boda-boda officials said many young people have dropped school to venture into the boda-boda business.

“Since bodaboda business started, school drop out cases have been on the rise. I am advising employers giving school children motorbikes to stop before the law catches up with them,” he said.

Abdi urged parents to report their children especially boys who drop school to authorities.

“We can’t have a future generation that will be spoilt without proper education. Owners of motorbikes should give their motorbikes to people who have trained and have driving licenses to avoid accidents,” he said.

Abdi asked the boda-boda officials to have a register of all boda-boda riders to help police know underage people who are riders.

He said a crackdown will be conducted to arrest those without driving licenses.
