A middle aged motor cycle operator was on Thursday arraigned in a Nakuru court to face charges of using abusive language against his passenger. Chief Resident Magistrate Felix Kombo heard that George Murage 32, a motorbike taxi operator in Nakuru town used abusive and demeaning language against Henry Owour at Freehold Estate on December 7 this year when he called him (nyani wewe, shetani mweusi) a baboon, black ghost. The prosecutor told the court that the accused maliciously abused the complainant after they disagreed over an amount of fare to be charged after he transported the complainant from Nakuru town Central Business District to his house in Freehold estate. The charges indicated that the complainant had noted down the number plates of the motorcycle and reported the matter to Nakuru Central Police Station. The accused was arrested after investigations by police with the help of the complainant. According to the prosecution the demeaning abusive language was illegal and violated the rights and dignity of the complainant. He was released on a cash bail of Sh15,000 pending the hearing of the case on January 12.
