Despite the ban on night time operations by the Kikuyu OCPD last week, 7 boda boda operators in Zambezi were yesterday arrested operating at 11pm.
Confirming the incident was the Kikuyu OCPD SSP Mutune Maweu who said that the 7 who were arrested were not only arrested for operating past the time but were also suspects of criminal activities. The police boss also added that of the 3 suspects who were arrested, 2 pangas and a rungu were recovered from them.
Maweu further revealed that the police are still going to conduct patrols in the area following the increased criminal cases reported. He also said that bodaboda operators and their managements should not go against the ban and if they do, they will be arrested and their Sacco managements suspended.
"I want to advise Sacco managements in Zambezi to vet their members to avoid such consequences. This will enable them to know those amongst them that conduct criminal activities which they should report them to the police," added Maweu.
