Boda boda operators in Thika Sub-County have been directed to have identification cards that show they operate in the area.

Thika deputy county commissioner Tom Anjere has said riders without the identification documents will not be allowed to operate in the area.

“Identification cards will help us know the thieves who have been using motorbikes and tuktuks to steal from residents of Thika region,” Anjere said in Thika Town on Monday.

The commissioner said boda boda officials should register their members and forward a copy of the list to the office of the chiefs in charge of the area.

He called on riders to undertake training so that they can become professional in their training.

“Riders should undergo training, form saccos and insure their motorbikes to help boost their businesses,” he added.
